PASTEL PORTRAITS
Here are my portraits with the charcoal/pastel technique of pets and animals. Some of them were paid commissions, others were my own explorations. Hope you enjoy.
The pastel portrait is an elegant, clean and soft techinque. Pastel has always been the technique with which i have painted more portraits on commission. The result of a pastel portrait is much softer in color and line. It can even be more realistic. You could say that the interpretation i give to a pastel portrait is not as free or artistic as an oil painting, but i stick more to photogrphy.

MATERIAL USED IN A PASTEL PORTRAIT COMMISSION
All portraits are created using the finest quality materials available to ensure they last a lifetime.
In my portraits I apply Faber–Castell Pitt Pencil on Canson® Mi-Teintes® paper.
The Pitt pastel pencils contain a high level of pigment, but are wax and oil free, and are perfectly suited for fine details in pastels. Only minimal fixing is required, ensuring that the pastel drawings retain their vividness of colour.
PASTEL PAPER
Canson® Mi-Teintes® is a pulp-dyed colour paper that has won worldwide recognition for its qualities.
Canson Mi-Teintes is genuine art paper that contains cotton, combining mechanical resistance and a sensuous feel. In addition to its qualities as a drawing medium, Canson Mi-Teintes complies with the ISO 9706 standard on permanence, a guarantee of excellent conservation.
Furthermore it has the advantage of having a different texture on either side: a honeycombed side characteristic of Canson Mi-Teintes; and fine grain on the other.
TIPS
Mounting/ Matting For Pastel Portrait
for your Artwork where possible, keep the artworkCaring out of direct sunlight. If the artwork is exposed to extreme heat, such as above radiator or sunlight over long periods of time, it can be damage.
I highly encourage framing all your portraits. Not only do they look incredibly beautiful framed, but it will help to protect your fresh artwork from wear and dust. I do not currently offer framing from my studio.
A stunning way to finish your portrait off is to have your portrait mounted/matted with a backing board, using conservation mountboard which is essential to guarantee protection and longevity of your portrait, guarding against staining.
FRAMING For Pastel Portrait
Pastels are a dry medium which requires the artwork to be displayed behind glass to protect from smudging.Anti-glare UV protective Plexi glass is used to give your portrait full protection from the elements and ensure its longevity.
